Teardrop describes a bust with less fullness at the top than the bottom. It is extremely common, and it is the shape most likely to leave a gap at the upper edge of a cup that otherwise fits.
What to look for
Stretch at the top of the cup, a slightly lower neckline, and moulded rather than rigid construction. Anything that holds a fixed shape will show the gap; anything that moves with you will not.
Wireless versus underwire
Wireless styles with a bonded underbust give shape without a fixed cup edge. Underwire works too, as long as the wire follows your root and the cup fabric has give.
